Match Report

Match report Eltham CC Vs LESSA Aquila CC

A backs-to-the-wall effort saw Eltham claim an unlikely draw from the jaws of defeat against a Lessa Aquila side who had an uncanny knack of splitting the Eltham field with aerial shots during their innings. Chasing an intimidating 223 for victory, Eltham slumped to 49-6 and then 92-7 before sterling efforts from Richard Page (with his highest score for us), Andy Redman (also with his highest score for Eltham - not bad when you consider Andy has played for us for well over a decade!)) and Andy Wells (definitely his highest score for us) got Eltham to 192-9. Alan Horne, batting in unfamiliar surroundings at number 11, faced 27 balls in a defiant 2 not out - solid stuff Alan!

Lessa played the game in a good spirit, trying to tease the winning wickets out at the end, but were unable to make the extra breakthrough they needed, so Eltham were able to claim an unlikely draw.
