With Derek away, it was left to yours truly to ensure that the team was ready to face Blackheath at 2pm, no ? text number two ? please note the earlier start time 1pm! AAHH ? text number three ? Sorry it is a 12:30 start, please confirm that you will be there at 12.

And turn up they did, and the skipper breathes a sigh of relief!

So with a look at the wicket and it resembling Graham Gooch?s hair from the implant adverts, a new ball and with Kashif and Tanveer ready to be unleashed bowling first was always the best option. And win the toss I did, so out to battle we went.

Tanveer bowled with the wind and kept a very tidy over, so over to Kashif running into the wind. Well there was enough swing to please a Tory backbencher, but not the umpire! A 12 ball over with Extras leading the scoring after 6 ?wides? it was back to Tan! Normal service was soon resumed and Kash took four wickets with venom.

Tanveer was replaced by his mate Adnan who kept a tidy spell of 4 overs for 9 runs, and Pete the Tasminator came on for a marathon 11 over spell into the wind, because the skipper couldn?t keep track of the overs!?! He picked up two wickets and kept the pressure on Blackheath who were not being given the opportunity to play any expansive strokes.

David Jones lured one into a rash sweep shot and had him plumb LBW, and then Pete the Shaun Udal of Eltham Cricket Club bowled 7 overs for 16 runs with a memorable stumping by Asjad.

Tanveer mopped up the tail and Blackheath were all out for 152.

Will ?splinters? Bisley opened with Asjad and true to form edged to slip in the first over only Blackheath to see it drop short. Asjad and Will put on 71 and Eltham were on their way. A partnership of 46 ensued with Bulpitt batting in binary and Will hitting the boundaries. Imran then saw Eltham home with a swashbuckling 8 and it was game over. A victory by 8 wickets.

Onto Lessa Aquila on Sunday, and the return of Wouldham, Redman and Cohen. Not the solicitors firm!

Skipper, Matt Bulpitt
