Match Report

Match report Eltham CC Vs Ide Hill CC

A good performance in the field set Eltham on their way to victory in this game against an Ide Hill team missing their top batsman. Tanveer was the star amongst the bowlers, with honourable mentions to Ricky, George (aka Jack, James, or The YoungUn), Matt Rosenthal, Gary and Colin. George picked up two good catches, the second of which was travelling at a rate of knots. Matt Bulpitt dropped possibly the easiest chance he will ever get - proof (if it were needed) that cricket can trip you up at any time.

Following a sumptuous Andy Redman tea, involving real smoked salmon (Not trimmings!), Pete Fisher and Matt Bulpitt opened up and set Eltham on the right path with a solid partnership. Pete Fisher missed what turned out to be a straight one, though he had to check with umpire Matt Rosenthal on his return that the ball didn't move both ways! Pete's demise brought Pete Swain to the crease and, after a scratchy start, he got to grips with the slow pace of the pitch and hit a few delightful shots to close in on victory. An over which saw 19 scored, including a six for each batsman, took us to the brink, and in the very next over Pete Swain saw us home.

A few beers after in the bar, which also featured cameo appearances from the entire Sinden clan (including President Roy and Vice President Pat - lovely to see you both) capped off a lovely afternoon against another nice opposition.

Next stop - sunny (we hope) Dorset.
