Match Report

Match report Eltham CC Vs Bloomsbury Royals CC

A painful defeat in a match which Eltham really should have won. The Footscray pitch was probably the worst I've seen it play, with both very high and very low bounce in evidence, with batting becoming something of a lottery.

Skipper Bill won the toss and put Bloomsbury in and wickets fell regularly, with only a 9th wicket stand helping to put some respectability into the scoreline - and as it happens this was probably the match-winning partnership. Gary himself managed a fivefer with his loopy deliveries bamboozling the opposition batsmen.

Chasing 115 to win, Eltham made a complete hash of things with wickets falling all too frequently at the top of the order with no partnerships. At 35-5 Eltham were in deep trouble but we somehow managed to limp to 102 before Gary finally holed out. A day to forget.
